Yuliya Martynova

Biography

Originally from Kazakhstan, Yuliya Martynova has been a resident of the UK for the past twenty years, where she lives and works as a painter. Academically trained in the Classical Arts, Yuliya initially started her career in Law where she worked in the corporate sector before returning to what she has deemed her true calling - painting and creating original works of art.

Creating captivating, dreamy works on canvas, Yuliya is inspired by large, ever-changing cloudscapes that provide fresh inspiration at any given moment, with their tumbling shapes, colours, and movements. Taking inspiration from the intrinsic feeling and concept of femininity, the artist expresses an incredibly soft and weightless sensation through her painted works, made with confident, fast-paced brushstrokes that form patterns, and the idea of perpetual motion.

With Yuliya’s abstract impression of cloud and woman mixed as one, her paintings appear delicate and feather-like, mixed in with the gentle hues of morning and evening skies, as she uses a mixture of oils and acrylics on both canvas and wood panels. Through her work, she hopes to explore the fleeting, natural beauty of transformation, femininity, and the natural world.

Yuliya has exhibited in galleries across London and the US, as well as collaborating with luxury brands and high-end projects.  She has also had her work displayed in films and TV shows including, 'Doctor Strange' (Marvel), and 'Scandel' (ABC Production).  In 2024, Yuliya unveiled her solo exhibition, 'La Femme',  with the River and Rowing Museum, where she created an immersive experience by combining art and scents.
