Arcadia: Katie Allen solo exhibition
Inspired by the natural beauty of South Wales and the shifting seasons, Katie Allen’s exhibition ‘Arcadia’ reimagines the Renaissance concept of untouched, poetic nature. She transforms her daily surroundings into richly ornamented, abstracted landscapes.
Working in her signature style, Katie paints layered acrylics onto aluminium and dibond panels. By cutting back into the paint, she reveals the reflective base beneath, adding a sculptural depth and a dynamic quality to each piece.
Katie holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting from the University of Bath and a PGCE from the University of Cardiff. Her distinctive balance of representation and abstraction is heavily influenced by a formative trip to India, where she developed a lasting love for intricate patterns. She has exhibited widely across the UK, Europe, and the United States, and in 2006, she completed a major commission for Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where her work remains on permanent display.
