Cicely Creswell, based in the Surrey Hills, UK, creates intricate ink narratives that explore time, connection, and the human experience.
Inspired by manuscripts and texts, her work blends flattened, distorted perspectives with meticulous detail. Like words on a page, her pieces invite the viewer to uncover layers of meaning and rich nuances woven into each piece. Each piece transforms upon closer inspection, revealing entire worlds woven into its delicate lines. Cicely's work challenges us to slow down for a deeper engagement. Through her storytelling, she encourages us to reflect on the connections between people, nature, and the landscapes we inhabit.
Fresh from receiving the Edinburgh Printmakers Award at the Royal Scottish Academy, we are excited to showcase Cicely’s work at Cube Gallery for the group show ‘Mastering The Line,’ from 17 October to 2 November 2024.
