Through observing her work you can immediately identify a strong retro theme that focuses on vintage Hollywood stars and aesthetic, with monochromatic faces, dreamy imagery, and intriguing narratives, Maria's collage work is both entertaining and nostalgic to view.
Through months of careful planning, cutting, pasting, and layering, Maria creates innovative collage work that touches on a variety of themes such as mythology and story, vintage nostaglia, and societal issues. Collecting various flashes of ephemera, this artist sources her materials from used-book shops and market stalls, as she searches for old magazines, books, and even puzzles.
Maria has exhibited her work across the globe, including at the Saatchi Gallery in London, and Galerie Bhak in Seoul. She has also published two books in the past few years, 'Extraordinary Things to Cut Out', and 'Four Seasons'.
