A warm welcome to our newest artist Eva Ray, hailing from Kent, UK. This artist takes inspiration from the natural landscape, and her travels to India where she discovered mural and fresco paintings, as well as a joy for mark-making.
From her exploration of nature and wild landscapes, new projects emerge as the artist uses her artworks to study and understand them, from the texture of old trees to the colours and patterns found in flowers. Eva begins her process with oil pastels first before applying paints, from her application of colour she finds compostion and a sense of direction, the rest unfolds naturally with her motion of brushstrokes and presence of soft colours.
"I work in pastels, both soft and oil pastels on paper or wood panels. I love being able to get close to the surface, which the pastels allow, and a sense of really being involved physically with the painting."
Eva studied Fine Art at the University of Liverpool, and then went onto achiving a Jewellery Design diploma from her time in Jaipur, India.
