Artist focus: CLAIRE COHEN
For the month of July, we are happy to feature Claire Cohen as our artist in focus. Join us as we take a closer look at her intriguing, multilayered creations that embody Claire’s interests in science through combining shape, colour, and form.
With these illusory artworks, Claire manages to combine her background in both science and art, as she uses both painted and printed layers of Perspex to build an idea in the observer’s mind of a particular shape inspired by those found in mathematics and/or cellular structures. These layers are placed together in a sequence, and are then encased within a Perspex box, which creates the idea of a mathematical form captured in time.
